Big Canoe Foreclosures, Short Sales, and Lender Owned Properties

LIke its neighbor Bent Tree, and perhaps even more so, the very strong financial make-up of Big Canoe owners has softened the blow of the  fiasco that has challenged most of the country.  In fact, even thought it slowed significantly, construction continued throughout most of the downturn.  Most Big Canoe sellers are not in a must sell situation and they can afford to wait on the market to come back to them.  This financial stability has not only kept the number of foreclosures down, but also helped keep properties values up.  Never-the-less, there are some foreclosures, short sales and special circumstance homes in Big Canoe and we have pulled them together for you in the search below.

Big Canoe is a gated community, you need to be the guest of a resident  or be accompanied by a Realtor.  I will be glad to assist you in finding  your next home in Big Canoe.

Recent Bent Tree Events and Announcements

  • First Quarter of 2012 Holds Slow But Steady

At the end of the first quarter there were 80 homes for sale in Bent Tree. This is only about 7% of the homes in Bent Tree and represents a much smaller number than the 10% to 11% that was common prior to 2007 when sales volume began to drop. The homes for sale ranged from a Freddie Mac Foreclosure listed at $82,100 to a stunning lake front home offered at $659,000.

During the first quarter 8 homes were sold and 3 more were placed under contract, but have not closed yet. Sold homes ranged in value from $66,800 to $380,000.

Home showings, buyer calls and internet inquiries are generally reported to be higher than last year at this time, so the numbers for the 2nd quarter may be better.

  • Looking For A Lively Conversation ?

The May meeting of " Think Out Loud" will be held next Tuesday, May 1 from 11:30 to 1 at 61 Main in Jasper.

Nancy Maxwell has suggested discussing the nature of open and closed minds as a topic for this month, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the publication of The Closing of the American Mind. So, our discussion will center on: what is a truly open mind? how do otherwise intelligent people allow their minds to be closed? how does this injure the thinking process? what are the causes of a closed mind?

If you plan to come, please confirm the host Carl Japikse at

Never a dull moment in Jasper, never.

    See ya 'round the mountains,
