Today was the Bent Tree Ladies Niners Charity Golf Tournament in Bent Tree. They actually started last night with a social and Silent Auction and then went out today for the golf portion.  They did a great job from start to finish and raised about $6000 for Womens’ Health here in Pickens County. Way to go ladies!  There is a short video at the link below.

Shelter Box Presentation at the Rotary Club of Jasper

Sunday, June 8th, 2014

As many of you know I am proud to be a Rotarian and I am going to begin to share some Rotary experiences as a part of this blog. Two weeks ago at the Rotary Club Of Jasper, GA, which meets at the Appalachian Campus of Chattahoochee Technical College in beautiful downtown Jasper, our guest speaker was Mike Freeman who is the Rotary District 6910 point man for ShelterBox. Mike has been on dozens of deployments with ShelterBox all over the world and he brought us a first hand account of his most recent trip to the Philippines. This short little video was taken while we were setting up for the presentation.  Enjoy!

Do You Need Motivation?

Friday, May 31st, 2013

I was sitting at my desk, trying to figure out how in the world to solve a major problem, when this showed up in my inbox. Suddenly, my problem is not so major and I am guessing there is a way to solve it. If this won’t make you both thankful for what you have and motivated to do more, I am not sure what would.

Tater Patch's Lend Me A Tenor

Tater Patch Players Presents Lend Me a Tenor

Sorry for the late notice, but my schedule didn’t permit us to get to the Tater Patch Player’s rollicking presentation of Lend Me a Tenor until last night and now you need to re-arrange your schedule so you can go see it tonight. The entire ensemble cast is outstanding and works together beautifully. For you long time Tater Patch Fans – a warm welcome back to Jan Simpson after a 10 year absence.

If you don’t recall the story line – a world famous opera virtuoso, Tito Merelli ( tour de force presentation by Alex Nawrocki) runs into a few problems during a one night stand in 1934 in Cleveland (famous for bringing us the scale – and not much else.) In one afternoon and evening lovers quarrel and make up, there is tragic illness and death ( well not quite), sultry trysts (well not quite), mistaken identities (lots of them) and great lines.

You deserve a break tonight, so grab the wife / husband or significant other ( not both please – there is enough of that on stage) and get yourself out to a local restaurant for dinner and then to theater. Curtain Rises at 7:30 and there are still seats available. For more information: Tater Patch Players
