Hello World
by Don Martin ~ August 9th, 2008
Greetings and a Warm Welcome to my new North Georgia blog site. I’ll be discussing Bent Tree real estate news as well as lifestyle news for the North Georgia Mountains.
This has been on my “to do” list for a very long time and I am pleased to finally be putting it into place. I will do my very best to keep everyone up to date on the activities in Bent Tree and to a lesser degree throughout Pickens County and in other gated communities in North Georgia.
For those of you that are not familiar with Bent Tree, it is located about 50 miles North of Atlanta in Pickens County and just about 5 miles outside Jasper, which is Georgia’s “First Mountain City.” The community covers some 3500 acres and sits just below Mount Oglethorpe. There are currently just over 1100 homes and building has continued at a relatively stable rate of about 35 homes per year since the 1970’s.
The community has a full compliment of amenities ranging from the Joe Lee designed championship golf course to hiking trails and including 110 acre Lake Tamarack, indoor and outdoor tennis facilities, 2 swimming pools and a full service equestrian complex. We are supported by full time security and fire service and the community management supervises our own water system and roads department. In actuality we are the equivalent of a small city. Well that is enough for a start. In the next few weeks we’ll be trying to make up for lost time and give you as much information about the community as we can; but we will also bring you information about some of the great homes in Bent Tree and throughout North Georgia. Please check back often and by all means leave your comments for all of us to share. Take care, Don.

Don,
The site is really looking good. Also, it appears as though you’re going to be a natural at blogging. Both the pictures and content and very good. Keep up the good work.
